Oregon's highest mountain just around the corner from us

I thought I would write today about our beautiful Mt. Hood, a "sleepy" or dormant volcano with recent eruptions in 1804, 1853, 1854, 1859, 1865 and 1907 and hopefully non in the near future. Mt. Hood is the highest Mountain in Oregon and second most climbed mountain in the world. It is so beautiful looking with all the snow, but it is really a very dangerous mountain, many experienced climbers in the past years became victims. Mt. Hood rises 11,235 feet above sea level, eleven glaciers grace its peak.
A classic, alpine Ski Lodge and Mt. Hood Landmark is Timberline Lodge, which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977 and is one of Oregon's most popular tourist attractions, drawing nearly 2 million visitors every year from around the world.
Ground was broken for this Landmark in June 14, 1936 and President Franklin Roosevelt dedicated the completed Lodge on September 28, 1937 after only 15 months of completion.
It is just a beautiful place!

Security Alert!

I have just discovered on a few other blog posts from different people that there is a website with all your private information out there and if you pay good money you can even get more scoops on the person. And than we wonder of all the identy fraud!
This should be stopped. Here is the site www.spokeo.com, I think you can opt out on this site and take all your information off.
Just thought I will pass this on!

Organizing anyone!

Now that the Holidays are over, I started cleaning and organizing my sewing/craft room, gosh sometimes I wonder why I am keeping everything, but you never know which project could use all these accumulated items. I made already a big pile, which will go in my huge garage sale in Spring. Everything from fabric, trims, patterns, doll making supplies, bear making supplies you name it. We will go through the house and see what we can down size with, we probably have a move coming up in the future, because of my husband loosing his job with Horizon Air sometimes this year. Not looking forward to any of these changes, but unfortunally we have not been asked if we want them. The Alaska Air Group up in Seattle, WA just decided last year in August to do away with hundreds of employees. Sad indeed!
Going through all my treasures, you find things you never thought you have, it is like Christmas, oh look isn't that beautiful. Tons of shredding needs to be done also, well pretty soon everything will look nice again. Can't wait!

Cake anyone?

I made these delicious cakes over the holidays, these were good. Now that the new Year is here, I think we will lay low for a while with the sweets. Too bad!

Hello 2011!

Out with the old and in with the new! Happy New Year! 2011 here we come.
What will this year bring to us? That is a good question.
In the beginning of every new year we all plan different things, like getting organized and getting rid off everything what we really don't need, getting more exercise and eating healthier foods. What are you waiting for? You have 364 more days to do it, so get cracking!

2011 IS ON ITS WAY!

Christmas is all done, another year has gone by,only 3 days left and it will be 2011
What will it bring, we all hope for the best.
For myself I have many plans for the new year. My first thing will be cleaning and organizing my craft room. I do this at least twice a year. It looks so good when it is all done, but after all these sewing projects, it looks like a battle field.
I went to Joann Fabrics yesterday and bought a few more yards of the 70% off Christmas fabrics they had left, mostly it was Debby Mumms. I have my own fabric annex, but who can resist these good prizes and on top of it I had a 20% off the total purchase coupon for being a valued customer, oh boy! What a treat. I cannot resist going by a fabric store, it is just heaven. I hardly go empty handed home, have to have that piece of fabric or beautiful trim, which I will put in my stash. I do live in Portland, Oregon. I am lucky to have excellent fabric stores around here, one is called Fabric Depot and it is huge. Bridal Department, trims galore, everything for decorating the home, baby related fabrics you name it. You can get lost in that store for hours. So if you ever come to Portland you need to visit this place to get the experience of fabric galore.
Well, that will be all for today. I will post more pictures in the next few days what I am working on. It is Easter related!
Happy New Year!
