Doll class with Barbara Willis

A few months ago, our doll club invited Barbara Willis to teach another doll class. We had a very good time, as always. Barbara is such a wonderful teacher and we are looking forward every time to have her here in Portland. I do belong to a cloth doll club. Our club started out with a Epb doll class, my first one ever and I was hooked. I met alot of fellow doll makers at this class and we decided to start a doll club and never looked back. It has been 10 years. Wonderful group. We do meet once a month on a Sunday.
I have not finished my doll yet, but I am so proud how the face turned out. The picture of the finished doll is Barbara's. We were the first class for this brand new doll she created for teaching.

Kittie pictures

These are my wooly monsters. Miss Kittie and Scamper. Looking so cute. And of course we cannot forget our little one, Batman!

The story behind the christmas tree

As many as you probably know, the Christmas tree originated in Germany. The tree became popular in England after Queen Victoria set up a christmas tree on behalf of Prince Albert, her Germanic husband. By the influence of German immigrants to the US, the tree migrated across the Atlantic Ocean. In Germany, Christmas trees traditionally are fully decorated on Christmas Eve and than remains up in the home until about 6th of January, 12 days after Christmas on Heilig Drei Koenige, it is a federal holiday to celebrate the Holy Three Kings.

Santa in a bucket

I created another piece for my upcoming show. Look at my Santa, sitting pretty in a bucket which I have painted in red and artifical christmas tree. The wooden sign was handstamped and aged. In than attached small bows and made applesauce and glue gingerbread ornaments which are also hung from the little tree.

He looks so handsome!

More sewing!

Brrrrrr, baby it is cold! Too cold for me! Some crazy weather has hit the Northwest, Artic cold with ice and snow. Just in time for Thanksgiving!

I made a few snowmen heads and some snowmen with stick feet, all looking pretty wrapped up, ready for gift giving! I have one more show to do next week. It is almost here, another Christmas. Where has the time gone?

Christmas Wreaths

I love making these wreaths, either small or big size. The big ones come with battery operated lights. Each artifical wreath is beautiful decorated and have my little snowmen put on. How cute are they?

Had fun at the craft show

I did a craft show last weekend. I rented two tables for all my things. This was the first time for me at this location. I will go back if they invite me again next year. Lots of people came, but the majority where only lookers. Money is tied these days and many are creating themselves. But it is fun to go out and see who is coming and talking to fellow crafters and of course the customers.

Diaper cakes

Love doing my diaper cakes with handmade cards.

Kittie

Wanted to show you a picture of our little black kitten, his name is Batman. He is now 6 months old. He came to us as a total stray and was about 6 weeks old. He just decided to come around during the summer on our deck and of course I am a sucker for poor animals, I was hooked. He was totally wild and so poorly looking and after we decided to make him kind of ours, I sat every night for hours, for many weeks, outside in the evening whn he showed up and made him used to me. It took a bit of time, but he turned out to be the cutest little guy.
I just love black cats. We used to have one years ago and all these years we are still talking about him, so I said to my family all the time, if we ever would get another cat, I would like to get a black one. Well you need to watch what you wish for, because all of a sudden that was it, poof, here was the little one. So that is number 3 inside and one stray outside, I think that is enough, don't you?

Yeh my new blog!

I have finally jumped into the world of blogging. After many years of looking at other blogs,I made the decision to have my own.
I am a very creative person and like to make all kinds of wonderful things. I have been crafting and sewing all my life.
I am meeting through my doll club, which I am a member for many years very talented doll makers. We have excellent teachers coming and giving us lessons, like Barbara Willis, Patti Culeo, Epb, Karen Shifton, Bets Vidale and many more.
It has been fun.
