Handmade Cards for Diaper cakes

I like to make diaper cakes (which can be ordered in any color), which I named "Poo Happens". When they are finished and wrapped with cellophane, I attach my hand stamped, painted cards just to add more cuteness. I have many stamps with cute baby designs and mostly they are painted with chalk and sealed so the colors don't run or smear over time.
So much fun!

Cupcake Pincushions

These pincushions are made of felt and than embellished with beads, set on top of a cupcake dish. The little cherry on top was entirely needle felted. I did not design the pincushion, somebody else did, but I changed the design of the cherry and the beading. These were fun to make.
The history of the picushions dated back to the 1500's during tudor times in England.

Hand painted Ornaments

Here in these pictures, and the pictures doesn't do the beauty of the finished result justice, are just a few of my hand painted ornaments, which are painted inside these little plastic containers, which open up. To achieve these results of beautiful colors, I paint with a brush up to 10 layers of paint inside. Each ornament takes approximately one week to finish, because each layer has to dry before I move on to the next step. I choose beautiful trim to finish it off. I am doing these for about 10 years with a lot of trial and error, but I am very proud of how I mastered this technique, which is entirely my own design.

Oregon's highest mountain just around the corner from us

I thought I would write today about our beautiful Mt. Hood, a "sleepy" or dormant volcano with recent eruptions in 1804, 1853, 1854, 1859, 1865 and 1907 and hopefully non in the near future. Mt. Hood is the highest Mountain in Oregon and second most climbed mountain in the world. It is so beautiful looking with all the snow, but it is really a very dangerous mountain, many experienced climbers in the past years became victims. Mt. Hood rises 11,235 feet above sea level, eleven glaciers grace its peak.
A classic, alpine Ski Lodge and Mt. Hood Landmark is Timberline Lodge, which was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977 and is one of Oregon's most popular tourist attractions, drawing nearly 2 million visitors every year from around the world.
Ground was broken for this Landmark in June 14, 1936 and President Franklin Roosevelt dedicated the completed Lodge on September 28, 1937 after only 15 months of completion.
It is just a beautiful place!

Security Alert!

I have just discovered on a few other blog posts from different people that there is a website with all your private information out there and if you pay good money you can even get more scoops on the person. And than we wonder of all the identy fraud!
This should be stopped. Here is the site www.spokeo.com, I think you can opt out on this site and take all your information off.
Just thought I will pass this on!

Organizing anyone!

Now that the Holidays are over, I started cleaning and organizing my sewing/craft room, gosh sometimes I wonder why I am keeping everything, but you never know which project could use all these accumulated items. I made already a big pile, which will go in my huge garage sale in Spring. Everything from fabric, trims, patterns, doll making supplies, bear making supplies you name it. We will go through the house and see what we can down size with, we probably have a move coming up in the future, because of my husband loosing his job with Horizon Air sometimes this year. Not looking forward to any of these changes, but unfortunally we have not been asked if we want them. The Alaska Air Group up in Seattle, WA just decided last year in August to do away with hundreds of employees. Sad indeed!
Going through all my treasures, you find things you never thought you have, it is like Christmas, oh look isn't that beautiful. Tons of shredding needs to be done also, well pretty soon everything will look nice again. Can't wait!

Hello 2011!

Out with the old and in with the new! Happy New Year! 2011 here we come.
What will this year bring to us? That is a good question.
In the beginning of every new year we all plan different things, like getting organized and getting rid off everything what we really don't need, getting more exercise and eating healthier foods. What are you waiting for? You have 364 more days to do it, so get cracking!
